Day 4--Key Largo to Miami

The Youth Choir sang at Baptist Hospital and had lunch in the cafeteria before traveling to a beach in Miami to play and have a cookout.

Daily Journals:
"Today we traveled to Miami. After we dropped our bags off at First Presbyterian Church we headed off to the beach. Supposedly, it was only like 15-20 minustes away but it probably took around 30! It seemed like we would never get there. Finally, when we did, we went to the wrong pavillion. After getting to the right place, the adults grilled hamburgers and hot dogs using a stick for a spatula. The kids all went to the beach. Some brave ones actually swam, but other "wimpy" ones just laid out. I was a wimpy one! Later we finally got to eat those...lovely...hamburgers and hot dogs! Just kidding-- they were good. After like 2 fun hours at the beach, we headed back to the church."--Hannah W.

"Going to the beach was relaxing. It put you in a very peaceful and spiritual state of mind, making all of God's wonderful creation stand out more."--Miles Benson

"First of all, there wasn't a beach, and it was overcast (due to us being here during hurricane season)! Glenn brought the news that we had to walk 1/2 mile to get to the actual beach. We enjoyed relaxing on the beach for about 2 and a half hours. After enjoying our wonderful grilled hotdogs (cooked by Glenn with stick spatulas) we encountered a wild animal--a racoon. We assumed it had rabies and ran when it came within 2 feet of us! Later on we took another walk on the beach and enjoyed the sunset."--Kasey, Laila, and Hannah G.

A NOTE FROM GLENN:
Technically they were not "sticks," they were Cabbage Palm Fronds which showed ingenious use of native foliage. Sometimes people drop the ball. (KB wasn't aware that grilling out requires the use of a spatula so we had to improvise!)

That's one of the things I love about Glenn......he can always make the best of a "sticky" situation :)
