Day 1 -- Forsyth, Ga to Buies Creek, NC

The big day has finally arrived. Excitement is high.
We want to thank all of you who helped make this trip possible financially and through your prayers.
Some things never change. We always wonder how we will fit all of our stuff into those "little, teeny" compartments.

A special part of Choir Tour is our Prayer Partners. As we get on the bus that first morning, Ms Linda lets us choose a card. This card has the name of our Prayer Partner on it, and we pray continually during the trip for this person.

After the long ride to Buies Creek, Darryl thought he deserved a little nap.

Memorial Baptist Church was an awesome first night of Choir Tour.

The choir did a great job!!!!!
Journal:
Everyone was excited yesterday to watch the bus pull out and leave their parents behind. Yet we forgot we were going to spend 6 hours on that bus. The 6 hours on the bus wasn’t even noticeable. The adults, Kyle Smith and Emily Gregg made sure we were entertained. We had a Spade Tournament, a devotion and watched the movie “Radio” which explained to us how we should be nice to all people no matter how different they are. The night with host homes was awesome. We then got ready for the next day that awaits us. Bridget B.

The bus, wow, where do I begin. I learned how to play Spades! Me and my partner kicked Josh. HAHA, but this was my very first tour and I am loving every minute of it. I sat with Laura C and it was great. Emily C.

After a long but bearable ride in the bus, we arrived at Bouies Creek at Memorial Baptist Church. The choir, surprisingly, had ample time to prepare for the concert. After a pizza supper and taking a few pictures, my brother -Caleb- told me that my grandparents had arrived. My grandparents and a few family friends had driven 45 minutes from Sanford NC. I was very excited to see them and spend a few minutes talking. Then we had to go get ready for the concert. The concert went really good, along with the beautiful clarinet and piano preludes. My special visitors were pleased which made me very happy. So -overall the Bouies Creek Concert was a success! Hannah W.
Day 1: The journey begins…Happy Birthday Kyle! We miss you, Taylor!
Our goal today was to travel 400 miles to Buies Creek, North Carolina, to “start spreadin’ the news,” and we made it safely! Our bus driver, Mr. Martin, is awesome. He delivered us to Memorial Baptist Church a little early which gave everyone time to stretch their legs, relax and unwind some before our first official concert of Choir Tour 2008. Our youth sang with energy and smiles and the handbells chimed beautifully! Our ensemble, New Voice, sounded heavenly, and our drama group Chi Rho delivered some thought-provoking skits.
All in all the day was a great success. Choir President Kyle (Who turned 18 today, Kyle?) and Vice President Emily helped all the choir members get oriented to the tour schedule and provided some interesting brain game time for those who did not have electronics with them. A few young (9th grade) lasses compained of boredom after a few hours on the bus…somehow they missed the signup for the Spades Tournament.
We did, however, have several novice or non-Spades players who bravely entered the tournament. The unofficial results are that the Darrell W. and Brian C. team were eliminated in the first round by the amazing Debbie Mc and Woody G. duo. Yet, to be fair to Darrell and Brian, no one else was eliminated because all the novice players were in training and all the experienced challengers were snoozingJ.
After lunch, Darrell delivered a touching devotional based on the theme, “Love’s Appeal”. We watched the movie RADIO and discussed the impact that we, as individuals, can have on other peoples lives. We discussed how to recognize both passive and active “acts of cruelty” and how to repent of them.
Special thanks today go to the host and hostesses at Memorial Baptist Church. Your church spirit is sweet and your hospitality gracious. We will treasure the memories.
